With an 87 year track record of dedicated service, the Ammembal Subba Rao Pai Memorial Fund is by far one of the oldest GSB charitable organisations active today.  A non-profit organisation, registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860, the Fund was started in the year 1913 by a group of socially committed people to perpetuate the memory of Ammembal Subba Rao Pai(1852-1909), the visionary-educationist who founded the century old Canara High School, Mangalore, (website under construction) the alma mater to over five generations of both GSBs and non-GSBs..more

4. Canara High School Association

The idea of starting a school came to four young B.A. Graduates, Sriyuths U. Srinivas Rao, B. Padmanabha Baliga, B.Vaman Baliga and Arkal Vasudev Rao, during their stay in Chennai. It was for the benefit of the Gowda Saraswath Brahmin community to which they belonged. During those days most members of that community in the district of Dakshina Kannada were uneducated. In their noble endeavor they were joined by one more teacher Sri. A. Padmanabhayya. During her journey of 24 years in Bangalore, she participated in the program which was conducted by University of California, Los Angeles, on Early Intervention in Children with Special Needs and Family Intervention.
