As we mark the auspicious festival of Diwali, we are pleased to announce our next partnership with Dr. Gopal Bhandarkar & the Konkani Charitable Fund. We will be raising funds for the Karnataka chapter of the Mahila Dakshata Samiti headed by Mrs. Saranya Hegde. Mahila Dakshata Samiti (MDS) holds the distinction of being the first and a leading women’s welfare organization in India.
MDS was founded by a group of concerned female leaders and social activists in 1977 to help fight atrocities against women, including child marriage, dowry and the inhumane practice of bride-burning, and to carry forward its mission to provide “Health, Education, Equality & Empowerment” for all women and children across India and in the UK.
The Karnataka chapter of the MDS was established in 1991. For more than 30 years, it has been a pioneer in offering family counseling and free legal aid, shelters for women and children who have experienced domestic abuse and for working tirelessly in the prevention of female infanticide. It is also dedicated to providing vocational and literacy programs and scholarships for thousands of women and children.
All donations are tax deductible and 100% of all donations paid by check to the KCF will go directly to the MDS. Checks can be made out to:
